As the publishers say "In the unrest in Yugoslavia and Iraq, among Palestinians, Armenians and Kurds, the Ottoman Empire legacy is still potent today". This book was published quite a long time ago but this comment is still absolutely relevant in today's world.
The book is a well written overview of the decline of the Ottomans, from the failure to take Vienna in 1683 to the end of the empire in 1922. It is written by an author who had a good understanding of the subject.
