This book is part of Leonaur's "Military Commanders" series. It was first published in the 1920s under the title "Memories of Forty Eight Years Service". This is a genuine autobiography by Smith-Dorrien, as contrasted with his other book in the Collection, "The Judgement of History: Sir Horace Smith-Dorrien, Lord French and 1914", which concentrates on the first weeks of the war.
