Ernst Friedrich (German)

Friedrich was born in 1894, and spent his life working in the cause of peace, and the proletarian revolution. He established the International Anti-War Museum in Berlin in 1924, the same year that he published "War against War" (which we have in the Collection). He was vigorously prosecuted by the Weimar Government for his anarchistic and pacifist agitation. He spent much time in prison. With the Nazi rise to power, his museum was closed and he fled to Belgium, where he opened a second museum. When the Nazis invaded Belgium in 1940 he fled again, to France, where he spent the war connected with the Resistance.
